WE CAN FIX YOUR CDs AND DVDs HOW ARE THEY REPAIRED? If your favourite disc skips, this is usually due to scratches on the playing surface of the disc. All CDs have a protective layer of plastic which is where most of these surface scratches appear. Through a buffing process, these surface scratches can be removed leaving the disc as good as new! WHAT IS INVOLVED? We have a professional CD repairer based at our Fitzroy store who works on your marked discs. This service costs $5 dollars per disc. Most CDs and DVDs can be restored to their original mirror finish. HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CD CAN BE REPAIRED? We can repair most discs yet if the disc is too damaged the service may be less successful. Some things to look for before you get your disc repaired are; - If the label side of the disc is marked. - If there are scratches that travel on the foil side in the direction of the circumference. - Or if there is a line of light in that direction, the disc is generally unrepairable. More success is achieved if the mark on the label side is in a radial direction. SO HOW CAN I GET MY DISC/S REPAIRED? You can either drop your marked discs into one of our 5 stores or you can drop them straight to our Fitzroy store. It must be noted that discs are not repaired any quicker if dropped into the Fitzroy store. In general it will take 7-10 days for your disk to be repaired and returned to the store where you dropped it off. You will be asked to pay for the repairs when you pick up your repaired discs. Any discs deemed unrepairable will not be charged for.
